The College Church of Christ exists to encourage and equip Christ-followers as they live out the mission of God in their schools, workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods.
What Does This Mean?
It means that the College Church is not trying to be the flashiest, snazziest or newest church in town. The College Church is just a gathering of people who are on mission. Stated more specifically, it’s made up of people who are all trying to live out their Christianity in their own lives on a daily basis. The College Church isn’t the focal point of the mission. Rather, the people of the College Church sustain each other in their missions lived out in their daily lives. The College Church exists, therefore, to encourage and equip followers of Christ. That’s where the mission happens.
How Does This Play Out?
The College Church contains a fairly diverse group of people from many walks of life. Rich. Poor. Young. Old. White collar. Blue collar. PhDs. GEDs. Male. Female. White. Hispanic. Asian. African-American. The College Church has people who have been successful in some things while struggling with others. Some of its members have struggled with relationships, with money, with sexuality, with addictions, with anger, and with pride. But most importantly, the College Church is filled with people who are learning to depend on Jesus Christ. This means that the people of the College Church recognize that they need constant teaching and inspiration to grow into the image of our Savior Jesus Christ and to learn what it means to follow him each day.
