In 1 John 4:13-21, John declares that “perfect love casts out fear.” If you connect the dots throughout John’s tightly-woven letter, you should realize that Christians ought to live in the confidence of knowing God. Yet why do many contemporary Christians operate out of fear? Fear of ISIS? Fear of Democrats? Fear of crime? Fear of neighbors? Fear of aging?
