Leading like Jesus, 5: As One Who Serves

Posted by Jason Locke on Sunday, August 11th, 2019 in Jason Locke

How can we raise up leaders in the church today? How can the church claim a place of leadership in our society? An importance place to start is to understand the proper meaning of Christian leadership. If we as Christians can learn to lead as Jesus led — by serving — then the church might see a dramatic change in its role in our world. Jason Locke preaches from Luke 22:24-27.

Leading like Jesus, 2: He Withdrew to the Mountain

Posted by Jason Locke on Sunday, July 21st, 2019 in Jason Locke

In John 6, Jesus fed the 5,000. On the surface this story tells one of Jesus’s greatest signs where he provided bread for the people in the wilderness just as God had during the days of Moses. But beneath the surface, this is a story about a Jesus who desired to lead from behind. He pushed his followers forward to test them while he himself longed to withdraw to the mountain so he could be alone with God. Jason Locke preaches part two of his series on Leadership.

Leading like Jesus, 1: He Came to Call Sinners

Posted by Jason Locke on Sunday, July 14th, 2019 in Jason Locke

How did Jesus lead? In this first installment, Jason Locke explores the unique leadership style of Jesus. Rather than just reinforcing the norms of his society, Jesus came to be a bridge between the people he loved and the world who needed God’s grace. This week’s sermon text was Mark 2:13-17.
